Gardner Festival Committee presents…the14th Annual Gardner Chair Luge!

ONLINE REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED - PLEASE REGISTER AT EVENT

On September 28th, all participants arrive between 11:00 AM & 12:00 PM with their chair luge for inspection by the Safety Judge. If deemed ineligible to race, you will have until 1:00 PM to fix your luge. Any vehicle deemed to be unsafe after that will not be allowed to race. 

Each team will receive 2 Gardner Chair Luge shirts (L or XL)

GARDNER CHAIR LUGE RULES
  1. This year’s theme is: Cheeseburger in Paradise!
  2. Teams shall consist of two (2) members, a driver and a pusher.
  3. ALL team members must wear helmets.
  4. Only one (1) team member is allowed on the luge during the race.
  5. ALL participants must sign the waiver. No one under the age of 16 is allowed to participate.
  6. Chair luge must be a homemade contraption with a definable chair, be a maximum length of 8ft, and have at least 3 wheels. In the past we have seen lawn chairs, lazy-boy recliners, plastic and wooden chairs. The driver has to be able to sit on the seat.
  7. Motors or motorized vehicles are not allowed.
  8. Go-carts, go-cart frames, riding lawn mowers and the like are not allowed.
  9. You must be able to demonstrate that you can steer and stop your luge; if you cannot you will not be allowed to race.
  10. Luge pushers must stay within the “Launch Zone” (approximately 5ft.) and the “Warning Zone” (approximately 3ft.) Luge nose must line up behind the “Warning Zone” line. Any team member who pushes beyond the “Warning Zone” will be disqualified for that race.
  11. Luge teams must arrive with their luge between 11:00 AM & 12:00 PM. Every luge is inspected by the Safety Judge, who will have the final say regarding whether your luge is allowed to race. If you are deemed ineligible to race you will have until 1:00 PM to fix your luge.
  12. Register early! Early Registration Fee is $25 per Team. Late Registration Fee (after September 21st) is $40 per Team. NEW!!! If you submit a Gardner Chair Luge Sponsorship and payment by September 21st Registration Fee is FREE and no Registration Fee payment is due. Click HERE to become a Chair Luge Sponsor! 
  13. Registration fee can be paid by clicking "Register Now" above and then selecting the option on the right side of the next page or by mailing your registration form with fee to: The Greater Gardner Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Box 1381, Gardner, MA 01440. Important note: If registering online, include 2nd team member, team name, sponsor (if any) and shirt sizes in the comment section.
  14. Waiver MUST BE filled out and signed by both team members prior to race. Form is available by CLICKING HERE and will be emailed to you upon registration. Form can be completed and emailed to chamber@gardnerma.com or brought with you the day of.
