The Facility Maintenance Technician will be directly responsible for performing routine building maintenance tasks. Performance of building maintenance tasks in one or more fields (e.g. carpentry, heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, electrical, etc.)
- Inspects building and other structures to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions and needed repair making notes and recommendations using a pre-established check sheet.
- Performs minor plumbing maintenance, including but not limited to replacement or repair of leaks in drains/faucets, unclogging of drains, trenching and laying new lines, replacing drain hoses on washers and similar devices.
- Perform snow blowing, plowing, sanding, and shoveling to ensure the safety of parking lots, entrances to facilities, etc.
- Daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance inspections; conducts safety compliance inspections.
- Performs painting, carpentry, and masonry work (e.g. preparing surfaces and using brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paints, stains, and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.)
- Reconfigures, installs, and positions offices and space to accommodate user needs and maximize building space using various hand, power, and specialty tools, dollies and hand truck.
- Prepares the surfaces and paints various structures and equipment (such as walls, refrigerators, evaporative coolers, floors, roofs, doors, restroom facilities) to preserve wood and metal parts from corrosion and maintain a safe, comfortable working environment using various painting equipment and related tools (sprayers, rollers, brushes, etc.).
- Purchase supplies needed in a cost-effective manner and submit the receipts timely to the Facilities Director.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Must have a High school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of 2-5 years practical experience in maintenance and repair. OSHA 10 Certification preferred or must be willing to complete certification course within 90-Days of hire. Candidate must have an acceptable CORI (National Background Check) and must have a valid Massachusetts Driver’s License.
Must be able to regularly move, transport, position, put, install, and remove up to as least 75 pounds. Can constantly sit, stand, and/or walk throughout the scheduled work shift. Must be able to wear face masks/respirators, personal protective equipment, etc. Must be able to ascend/descend a ladder to service the facilities.
Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Work scheduled overtime and be on-call after scheduled work hours.

Supervision Received: The incumbent is supervised directly by the Facilities Director.
